Berkswich Governors’ Vision Statement

The board of governors of Berkswich C of E VC Primary School have decided on the following statement of how we see the school developing over the next three to five  years, and the role of the governing board in making this happen.

Our vision has been shaped by the following verse:

"I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

John chapter 10 verse 10

Embedding our Christian values and ethos as a school within all of our decisions, as governors we will strive to:

  1. Ensure that all pupils, teachers and staff are supported in their personal and spiritual development, encouraging them to know and celebrate who they are, and how their values connect with their faith and their British identity, and the identities of others.
  2. To base all decisions on options for our future relations with other local schools on what is in the best interests of all in the school including the pupils and the wider community.
  3. Understand that a flourishing environment of learning and achievement involves accountability, and so seek to continue to pursue excellence in all aspects of the work of the school, continuously striving towards all that is involved in our current Ofsted judgement of outstanding, and in achieving a SIAMS judgement of outstanding.
  4. Ensure that the school’s curriculum fully equips pupils for the challenges of the 21st century world, including providing adequate modern computer technology while encouraging a culture of safety and care online.
  5. Ensure that as governors, we have the correct tools and skills to be able to continue to drive forward the strategic direction of the school, establish a firm foundation for the future, and hold all in the school environment to account.
