Musical Me
The children have been using musical vocabulary, such as rhythm and dynamics, to describe music that they hear and perform. We began with a group ensemble of, 'Once a man fell in a well', where we took it in turns to keep maintain a pulse through the music. Whilst half of the class sang, the other half concentrated on keeping a pulse with some untuned percussion instruments.
Year Two then focused on playing a known melody using tuned percussion instruments. We were able to read letter notation and play a melody. We even invented our own melody using letter notation and performed it to the class. It was wonderful to see the teamwork, collaboration and dedication that went into the creation of these pieces.
