Music Tuition

Berkswich CE offers a number of instrument lessons for children from Year Three to Year Six. If your child would like to learn an instrument in school, then please contact the school office for more information.

Thank you so much to Miss Everill and the students from Walton High School for visiting school to inspire our children to either continue with their instrument or to begin lessons in Year Seven. It was wonderful to hear Charlie (a previous Berkswich pupil) play with such confidence - superb!

Momo Academy of Drama

Bespoke Performing Arts classes are offered to pupils by a fully qualified accredited LAMDA teacher. Drama is ideal for cross-curricular learning and is valuable to enhance learning in many subject areas. In particular, drama develops English skills, supporting speech and language, listening skills and thus improving the quality of writing.

Drama helps to improve self-confidence and public speaking and improve the ability to work collaboratively as a team by working through differences to achieve a goal. Drama gives a safe, supportive environment for discussing and exploring difficult issues or emotions. It encourages pupils to think about their own cultural values and to think more creatively and critically, which improves problem-solving skills.

Rocksteady

The Rocksteady Programme provides the opportunity for children aged 4-11 to progress musicianship, confidence and teamwork skills. Rocksteady provides pupils the opportunity to play in a band with a choice of instruments: the electric guitar, keyboard, drums or vocals. Rocksteady Band Leaders are carefully chosen, extensively trained musicians who know how to inspire a life-long love of playing music. With termly concerts at school assemblies, pupils are able to show off their progress to friends, teachers and parents with the rest of their band.

Yoga

Pupils are offered weekly group yoga sessions with a qualified yoga teacher, Sarah Rowland. This involves gentle stretches, breathwork and mindfulness to promote physical mental wellbeing.
