Ten Town in Nursery & Reception

Ten Town is an award-winning maths resource for the Early Years that brings numbers to life that is used in Nursery and Reception.

King One and his friends are designed to build strong basic numeracy skills each number character has a story that helps children improve their number formation and recognition. They also do things in relation to their number which aids an appreciation of number value and composition. All children can practise a variety of skills including subitising and number bonds to help develop a deep understanding of numbers to 10.

Ten Town also offers cross curricular learning as the characters link to different areas of the Early Years framework, for example Freddie Four is an explorer who visits different places across the world and Fiona Five eats healthy food to look after her body.

The children in Reception discover numbers from 10 to 20 in the Ten Town studio, home of 'Tia Ten's Show'. In each episode, Tia is joined by one of her number friends, and together they create a new number with the focus on partitioning and number value. Every episode also features a different topic, including white money and simple calculations.

All children in EYFS are able to access Ten Town at home. The children are able to explore the wonderful world of Ten Town through an exciting range of stories, songs and activities. Along the way, they can chart their own progress completing activities to collect stars, shields and hats for their login profiles.

Ten Town is a fantastic opening ended resource that offers opportunities to create memorable learning experiences from a picnic with King One to a number hunt with Freddie Four.
