FOBs is the PTA of our school, organising fun events for children and their families to raise much-needed, much–appreciated funds.
Thank you for taking the time to look at our page – we are always delighted to have new people join from all year groups and welcome any contribution. We have a lovely welcoming team of people and plenty of family community spirit. Parents, carers and teachers all have different input throughout the year, from one task, such as wrapping presents for Santa’s grotto at Christmas or labelling tombola prizes at the summer fair, to helping to sell drinks at Sports Day or designing posters for the next event. Any contribution is greatly appreciated however big or small it may seem.
Our events take place throughout the year and range from major fundraisers, such as our twice-yearly fayres, to smaller events, such as discos for all of the children.
Our school does not receive enough government funding to provide the exceptional quality of education that it achieves. It, therefore, relies on the PTA, teachers and the generosity of parents, carers, families and the local community to continue offering the outstanding enriching experiences year-on-year.
This year, the school has a funding deficit, due to changes in legislation outside of its control. In response, the PTA are supporting with a number of events throughout the year raising money for:
The target is £5000!
We aim high to achieve the best for our children.
We endeavour to reach this goal whilst making things fun and memorable for the children and their families with:
Funds raised are used for both large and small projects throughout the school - these can be seen in school newsletters. Over the last few years, items we have purchased include new ipads and laptops to be used in classrooms, desks and chairs classrooms, bookcases, books, sports equipment – and we frequently respond to requests from staff for everyday items, such as craft resources and whole class reading books.
Could you spare the time to volunteer?
We are always delighted to see new faces and hear new ideas. We meet three to four times a year and keep in regular contact on WhatsApp. Details of our meetings can be found from the online weekly newsletter. Everyone is most welcome to come and join us. Whether we are funding equipment or experiences, our goal is to enhance our children’s learning during their time at Berkswich CE school.

Making a Difference
Many of our computing learning units require a laptop, the use of which also prepares the children ahead of high school, ensuring that they are not at a disadvantage by only using tablets. A great example of how the new laptop devices are used is from Year Six who recently took part in an international block-coding competition.
Annually, the children in Year Six also thoroughly enjoy a PTA-funded breakfast together every day of the week during SATs week - an amazing way to relax and to celebrate their learning at Berkswich CE.
For use across school, the PTA have also recently purchased excellent additional spelling, punctuation and grammar resources which will also be used to support parents in helping children with homework.
