Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, regrettably we are unable to invite parents into school for a tour of Berkswich CE primary and nursery. We understand that choosing the right setting for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will make in your child’s learning journey. With this in mind, we hope to provide you with a range of opportunities to allow you to gain an insight into life as part of our special Berkswich community and the chance to ask questions. We certainly welcome the opportunity to support and reassure you as you organise your child’s first steps into Nursery and Reception. We are offering virtual meetings to provide an opportunity for new parents to meet our headteacher, EYFS leader and teaching staff. This will provide a great opportunity for you to ask questions and find out about our community and learning at Berkswich CE. Your child is a vital part of this process, and so we welcome them to join in with the meeting.

Friends of Berkswich (FOBs)

FOBs is the PTA of our school, organising fun events for pupils and their families to raise much-needed, much –appreciated funds.

Our events take place throughout the year and range from major fundraisers, such as our twice-yearly fayres, to smaller events such as discos for all pupils and Bingo evenings for all the family.

Funds raised are used for both large and small projects.  Our most recent major project has been the refurbishment of the Foundation Stage outside play area.  We have co-funded the resurfacing of the playground, the provision of a canopy to enable all year outdoor play and purchased purpose built resources to enhance the children’s learning through play.

Over the last few years, items we have purchased include new desks and chairs for three classrooms, bookcases, books, sports equipment – from football pumps to football socks – and we frequently respond to requests from staff for everyday items, such as craft resources.

Could you spare the time to volunteer?

We are always delighted to see new faces and hear new ideas.  Details of our meetings can be found from the online weekly newsletter. Everyone is most welcome to come and join us.  Whether we are funding equipment or experiences, our goal is to enhance our children’s learning during their time at Berkswich School.
