Berkswich CE Listed in The Times Top 100 Schools 2022

We are delighted, once again, to appear in the Sunday Times Top 100 Schools list 2022. With the disruptions due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Times have looked at academic performance during 2019, 2018 and 2017 to formulate their list.

We are proud to be the only Staffordshire Primary School listed, with Berkswich CE rated as 6th in the West Midlands and 90th Nationally. Well done to all of our children past and present, parents, staff and governors!

Details surrounding the rating can be found in The Sunday Times 5th December 2021  and on The Sentinel website:

Good Morning Ms Jackson,

I hope you had an enjoyable half term.

I just wanted to pass onto you how delighted I am with the intervention that Elliot is receiving from Mrs Newman. Her caring, energetic persona really helps Elliot to engage with his learning and her praise motivates him to try harder.

At the end of term, to our delight Mrs Newman called to post Elliot a Head Teacher award, a message of ‘well done’ and some sweets from herself.  Mrs Newman will not be aware of the perfect timing of the gesture/award as when I presented it to Elliot I reinforced that his efforts are noticed and he is trying so hard and improving all of the time.

I just wanted to pass on my thanks to Mrs Newman who brightened up the day.

You have a wonderful team.

Have a good day.

Kind Regards

Louise Sanders

Dear Ms Jackson,

We wanted to email our thanks and appreciation for the work Mrs Maxwell has put in whilst Cora has been home learning. Cora and ourselves have valued the specific and detailed feedback and praise which has really helped to motivate Cora. The lessons and structure to learning has been really good and Cora has enjoyed engaging in a variety of activities that have a clear sense of progression and planning. We, as parents, have found this really helpful too when being homeschool teachers.

We hope that you and all the staff have a very well deserved break this half term.

Kind regards,
Paul and Helen Beeson

Good morning Mrs Joint,

Thank you for taking the time to do this for Thomas.  He really appreciates this.

We are really proud of Thomas for doing his work at home, at present he’s doing really well and enjoying break times with Lily!

Thank you to you and Miss Hubbard for all the support and lessons it’s amazing.

Have a good day.

Regards

Donna

Mrs Wilkinson,

I just wanted to extend my thanks to you and all of the teachers at Berkswich.  What you are all doing to ensure the continuation of learning for the children is phenomenal.  You really are superstars.
I also want to personally thank you and Mrs Johnston with the extra work that you have put in with Beth... I cannot believe the difference in her ability and confidence (especially in maths) between the first lockdown and now.

Thank you so much

Lyn Chambers

Dear Ms Jackson and all Staff

I thought I had to drop you an email to say a huge thank you for providing such a lovely, caring start to my grand daughters education.

Freya has settled into nursery life so well and is so happy and eager to share what’s happened at school.
Yesterday’s ‘sharing’ was so special I thought I should share with you.

I collected Freya yesterday and on the journey home she said- “nana do you know what day it is today?” I replied that yes I did, did she? And her answer, “ Today is ‘membrance’’ day and we have to remember everyone and these poppies help us do that”

For a four year old to have an understanding of Remembrance Day is wonderful and a credit to your teaching. So I felt I just had to say thank you to you all.

So on a thankful note I shall end and say thank you once again for giving a very proud nana a special memory!

Hi Mrs Wilkinson,

I just wanted to write a quick note to say how wonderful the video was.

It was so kind of you to let us incorporate it into our service of remembrance yesterday morning.

The children really were great and everyone commented on how they read and signed so beautifully.

Many of our service users were brought to tears and spoke about how lovely and how important it was seeing the children learning and understanding Remembrance, many also stated how optimistic seeing the children made them feel about the future.

On a personal note, it’s so lovely and reassuring knowing Ru is at such a great school.

Kindest Regards

Dear Ms Jackson,

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and all of your team for doing such a wonderful job this half term. I know it won’t have been easy, but you have all kept on going and welcoming everyone into school with a smile every day. As always, you put the children’s well-being at the heart of all you do and we can’t thank you enough for all of your hard work.

I hope you manage to get a very well deserved break over half term.

Huge thanks to you all,

Emma firkins (Jamie’s mum)

Home Reading Success!

I just wanted to let you know as a parent what a great tool 'Myon is'. My son is lying on the settee listening to an audio book on Myon and following it on screen with his headphones on.

He's just said I've got my own Kindle now! He's delighted at this. And it's only cost me as a parent £5:00! Fantastic! The dictionary tool on it is great too!
Thank you for this.
One very happy parent.
