Indian Instruments

During our learning about Indian music, we have looked at some instruments that are popular in Indian music. 

The Sitar – a string instrument played upright like a guitar.

The Tabla – a type of drum played with hands. 

The Indian Flute– a short wind instrument.

Within our unit, we learnt:

What is a rag? (A series of notes which Indian music uses to create the tune.)

What is the rule of a rag? (It only uses a given set of notes.)

We then used these rules to create our own rags with our partner.
