Useful links for Parents/Carers in Reception

                 

 

These links will take you to websites and documents which will be useful in helping to support your child during their time in Reception and to help you gain a better understanding of what they will be learning throughout this exciting year.  

  • The Early Years Framework This is the national framework which we all have to follow when planning and teaching in Early Years. It outlines the 7 areas of learning and characteristics of effective learning.
  • Phonics Play This is a really useful website which we use daily in school to practise the application of phonics skills. There are a range of free games on here or you can subscribe to gain access to more.
  • Topmarks Explore the Early Years section to find lots of great games for mainly Maths & Literacy. Your child will be familiar with these are we use this website regular during lessons.
  • Crickweb Lots of free educational games and activities. Click on the Early Years section to find resources suitable for your child to complete.
  • ICT Games Another great website with free educational games to play. Games I recommend for phonics - 'The Dinosaurs Eggs', 'Tell a T-Rex', 'Viking Full Circle', 'Phonics Pop'. Games I recommend for Maths- 'Counting Caterpillar', 'Tens Frame', 'Counting Cars'.
  • Ten Town Designed to help number recognition and number formation. We use this website in school so your child will be familiar with it. There are lots of stimulating games, activities and animations.
  • Alphablocks Watch as letters of the alphabet tell stories and make words using phonics. Play the learning game, watch clips and print colouring pages.
  • NSPCC- Online Safety This a really useful website for advice and tips for how to talk to your child about online safety and how change parental controls to ensure your child is safe when accessing things online.
  • Hungry Little Minds Simple, fun activities for children from newborn to 5 years. Click on the 3-5 years section for ideas and activities to add to your routine.
  • Jolly Phonics Resources At Berkswich, along with the Letters and Sounds programme we also use Jolly Phonics to help children to learn to read,write and spell.
  • Little Wandle Letters & Sounds This is the phonics scheme we follow throughout the school. Please follow the parents link for support and resources to help your child with their reading and writing at home.
