2025
This year, Year Four rose to an exciting challenge set by NATRE (the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education) by entering the Spirited Arts Competition.
Our theme was “Living in a Diverse World” - a chance to celebrate differences, explore big questions and think about what really brings people together.
The children were inspired by the words of Maya Angelou, an American poet, writer and civil rights activist, whose message of hope and equality helped spark their creativity. They worked thoughtfully and imaginatively to create pieces of art that share their own ideas about diversity, unity and respect.
The competition asked the children to consider:
How can communities stay strong and positive when people are so different?
What can we learn from religious and non-religious beliefs about equality?
What helps us stay united – faith, love, music, sport, friendship?
What divides us – racism, hatred, prejudice – and how can we overcome these challenges?
We are so proud of the children’s thoughtful responses. Their work shows their growing understanding of diversity and their developing spirituality, as they consider how we can build a kinder, fairer, and more connected world.
