In this unit, the children have been discovering the features of gamelan music including the Slendro scale and cyclical rhythmic patterns. They played games to help them identify traditional gamelan instruments - which we all agreed were very hard! They learnt about the concept of an octave; exploring how different timbres are used in gamelan music.
