Planet Protectors: Practising Spellings Through Handwriting

From Year Two, children join their writing. We learn a cursive style, with each letter joining from the line.

Please use the link below to see how we support a good pencil grip. It is extremely important to embed good habits from the start and maintain them to encourage fluency and ease of writing. Formation guides can also be accessed below.

If your child needs further support, such as pencil grippers, please ask Mrs Andrews (SENDCo) or your child's teacher. Please also use the helpful formation guide below.

Please only use a capital letter for words that always start with a capital (like 'Mrs' and days of the week). This helps as your child will mostly use these words without a capital letter in their writing.

For each word, ask your child to say the word, cover it, write it and then check it. Encourage your child to use their phonics to sound out the first three. The last two in each set are are 'tricky' except in set thirty-nine.

Scroll down to click on each printable set (each matches your child's spelling book set number). Please contact school if you spot a typo: we will sort it straight away.
