Practising Spellings Through Handwriting
In Reception and Year One, children do not join their writing. Please use the link below to see how we support a good pencil grip from the beginning. It is extremely important to embed good habits from the start. If your child needs further support, such as pencil grippers, please ask Mrs Andrews (SENDCo) or your child's teacher. Please the helpful formation guide below.
Please only use a capital letter for words that always start with a capital (like 'Mrs' and days of the week). This helps as your child will mostly use these words without a capital letter in their writing.
For each word, ask your child to say the word, cover it, write it and then check it. Encourage your child to use their phonics to sound out the first three. Apart from the last three sets, the last two are 'tricky.'
Scroll down to click on each printable set (each matches your child's spelling book set number). Please contact school if you spot a typo: we will sort it straight away.
