Exploring Sound


Within this unit the children have been exploring how to use their voice and bodies to make sounds. They have been experimenting with tempo and dynamic when playing instruments and have been working on being able to identify sounds in the environment.

We listened to the sounds and guessed what we thought they were. We then discussed what we noticed about the sounds using the following prompts:

  • Is the sound high or low?
  • Does it stay the same?
  • Which has the highest sound and which has the lowest?
  • What words can you use to describe the sound?
  • Are any of the sounds similar?
