Ancient Egyptians!
Composing our own piece of music to mark the grandness a pharaoh’s life!
The children created a hieroglyphic graphic score using body percussion and voice sounds. They rehearsed carefully to try to keep time together. You can see how carefully they are following their score.
Now the children have learnt the song 'Ancient Egyptians,' they are now learning to accompany this with the glockenspiels and chime bars. It is not easy to read the music, find the keys and play with a light touch - all at once! Year Five have been trying to improve the quality of the sound that they make. You will see in the photos that some are ready with their finger to 'dampen' the sound, when there is a rest in the piece. The concentration is always evident. In fact, the children are so good, they can even sing their glockenspeil part too!
We look forward to adding this to our two-part singing soon!
